OUR ESSENTIAL DOCTRINES

We believe there is only one God, †

Eternally existing in three distinct persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11, 44:6; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6; John 1:1-2
For His own glory and by his own decree, the triune God created heaven and earth, †

He also created time, and all things, visible and invisible, living and nonliving, material and nonmaterial

Genesis 1:1–2:3; Exodus 20:11, 31:17; Isaiah 46:9–10; Nehemiah 9:6; 1 Timothy 1:17; Colossians 1:16; Revelation 22:13
We believe that Jesus Christ was miraculously conceived, †

Born of a virgin, God in the flesh, adding human nature to His divine nature; He is one person, presently both fully divine and fully man.

Luke 1:35, 42; John 1:41, 14:6; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:21; John 1:1, 14, 2:14-21; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 2:9, 1 Timothy 2:5
We believe that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah, †

He is the only Savior of mankind as exemplified:

  • in Jesus’ substitutionary and atoning death on the Cross.
  • in His bodily Resurrection.
  • in His Ascension into Heaven.
  • in His intercession for believers.
  • and in His personal, physical return.

Hebrews 2:17; II Corinthians 5:21; I John 2:2; Matthew 28:6; I Corinthians 15:3-6; Luke 24:50; Hebrews 9:24; Romans 8:34; I Thessalonians 4:16; Acts 1:11
We believe each believer is both sealed and indwelt by God the Holy Spirit, †

From the moment of regeneration the Holy Spirit helps, teaches, comforts, and empowers believers to grow in their faith and knowledge of God. We believe the Holy Spirit distributes spiritual gifts as he wills to believers, for the edification of the church and causes the fruit of the spirit to grow in each believer

Ephesians 4:30; I Corinthians 6:17, 19, 12:4-11; II Corinthians 1:21-22; John 14:16-17, 26, 16:13; Romans 8:9; Galatians 5:22-23
We believe mankind is sinful from birth and therefore separated from God, †

Resulting in Eternal punishment in hell. That every person shall be resurrected from the dead, the believers to eternal life, and the unbelievers to eternal damnation.

Genesis 8:21; Psalms 14:1-3; Romans 3:10-18, I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:11-15
We believe salvation is by God’s grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ, †

It is only by His finished work on the cross and not by the works of man. Salvation results in eternal life with God and cannot be lost.

Romans 8:29-30; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 6:44, 10:27-29; Romans 5:21, 6:3-4
We believe that the Church is a “body of believers”, †

Comprised of those who have been saved and redeemed by the True and Living God, based upon the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus upon the cross.

John 1:12-13; I Corinthians 12:13-14; Ephesians 1:22-23
We believe that all scripture, (the Bible), is God-breathed, †

And its original manuscripts are without error. It was written by men under divine inspiration, infallible and as such, the Bible is the final and supreme authority in all matters of faith and Christian conduct.

II Timothy 3:16; Luke 24:44-45; I Corinthians 2:12-13, II Peter 1:3, 20-21; Hebrews 14:12-13

ON FINAL AUTHORITY

We believe the statement of faith alone does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs,

Nor is the Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, and is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Ridgway Community Church’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the Elders are RCC’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s application.

ON THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image.

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life.

ON MARRIAGE AND SEXUALITY

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. †

These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

I Corinthians 6:18, 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4
We believe that any form of sexual immorality is sinful, †

Including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, or use of pornography, are ungodly and offensive to God

Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Ridgway Community Church as the local Body of Christ, †

And to provide a biblical role model to Ridgway Community Church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Ridgway Community Church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality.

Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:14-16; I Thessalonians 5:22
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess, †

And forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, †

As well as love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Ridgway Community Church.

Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31
